is where the Nation Park office are located. The beach itself is a long curving bay lined with evergreens that provide shade to picnickers--for which activity this a very popular spot. The large coral reef is home to many different species of fish, and Nai Yang is well known as a site where sea turtles come to lay their eggs during the period from November to February; the population of these has, however, dropped off greatly. First class accommodations are available, and small food vendors cater to the many day trippers that visit.
is at the northern end of Bang Tao beach where the beach meets a river and a lagoon. The area is home to many birds and other wildlife who enjoy the peacefulness of the lagoon. The many small tracks which cover the hillside of the beach are well known by climbers and bird watchers. You can reach the beach by walking pass the Laguna Phuket Resort or by following the highway and turning in to Nai Thon beach at the road sign.
is a large open bay with one of Phuket’s longest beaches. It was once used for tin mining, but has since been developed into a luxury resort. Most of it is occupied by the Laguna complex, a massive five-hotel development with golf course. There are, however, accommodations available outside Laguna at the bay’s south end. Dry season swimming is excellent, and at the bay’s north end is a smaller bay, almost completely enclosed, at the mouth of which is some fine coral. Plenty of places to eat, tour companies, and other tourist facilities available either at Laguna or in the nearby town of Cherng Talay.
is known as ‘Millionaires Row’ due the the top-end celebrity haunts Amanpuri, Twinpalms and The Chedi amongst the luxury resorts there, as well as the many US$ 1 million+ houses that sit proudly on top of the hills overlooking the Andaman Sea. Although popular with tourists it’s not a busy resort town, more like a coastal village. Fine white sand and turquoise water has ensured that the picturesque beach is very popular with tourists and Thais alike. The whole area is awash with high end hotels and housing which in turn has created opportunities for high end restaurants and wine bars.
is a Muslim fishing village north of Patong. Tourist development on the beach much of which is covered by a Muslim graveyard and a police outpost has been slow in coming. Buffalo herds still come down to the beach to cool off in the afternoon. The beach is beautiful and about 2 kms. in length. There are accommodations ranging from guesthouse to international class, and a number of small Thai restaurants specializing in seafood for the tourist. Kamala is the perfect place to get away from it all and has little to offer in the way of entertainment for that go across the mountains to Patong. Regular bus service to and from Phuket Town during daytime; tuk-tuk service available to Patong, 5 kms. away on the new road.

The beach became popular with western tourists, especially Europeans, in the late 1980s. Patong Beach—over 2 km of golden sand awaits you in one of the most famous beaches in all of Phuket for those who would like the feeling of busyness, this is probably the beach for you. Fast driving notorious for its great variety of activities such as motorized water sports, wakeboarding, kayaking, volleyball and have their party when the sun goes down, Patong is also one of the most interesting places to be on. If you get hungry angry, you are not for the street right next to the beachfull of restaurants, cafes and bars. If you’re in the mood for surfing head for the northern end of the beach as the waves a bit, there are more open to the wind and tend to give a real rush!
